About this policy
This policy describes how GetMDView ("we", "us") handles information when you use getmdview.com. GetMDView is a free Markdown viewer operated under the GetMDView brand. You do not need an account, and we do not ask for payment details.
Your documents
Markdown you paste, type, or open from a file is read and rendered on your device. The viewer does not upload your Markdown or files to GetMDView or send their contents to an analytics service.
Copying HTML uses your device’s clipboard. Downloading HTML and printing or saving a PDF use your browser’s own features. We do not keep a server-side copy of those exports. Images referenced in a document are an exception to local-only processing, as explained below.
Browser storage
The viewer automatically saves your latest Markdown in local storage so it can be restored on your next visit. It also saves your light or dark theme preference. This data belongs to the browser profile and site address you are using; GetMDView does not sync it between devices.
Saved content has no automatic expiry. It remains until you replace or clear it, clear this site’s browser data, or your browser removes it. Closing a tab does not normally delete it. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to see your saved text.
Hosting and connection data
Cloudflare hosts and delivers this website. When your browser requests a page or asset, Cloudflare processes connection and request information, which may include your IP address, browser information, requested URL, and request time, to deliver and protect the service.
This operational information is separate from the Markdown stored in your browser. Cloudflare operates a global network, so connection data may be processed outside your country. Its processing and retention practices are described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Clearing the editor does not delete hosting or network records.
External images and links
If your Markdown contains a remotely hosted image, the preview may request that image directly from its host. That host can receive your IP address and the requested image URL, including any information embedded in that URL. External images in a downloaded HTML file may also load when the file is opened.
Following a link takes you to another website, which has its own terms and privacy practices. Remove external image references before opening a document if you do not want those image requests to occur.
Your choices and data controls
- Use Clear in the viewer to remove your current and saved Markdown. Your original files, downloads, clipboard and theme preference are unaffected.
- Use your browser’s site-data controls for getmdview.com to remove both saved Markdown and the theme preference. Close other GetMDView tabs first so they do not save an open document again.
- Private browsing or blocking local storage can prevent persistence. The viewer remains usable, but automatic restoration may be unavailable.
- Keep your own copies of important documents. We cannot recover text stored only in your browser.
Children’s privacy
GetMDView is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not ask users to create profiles or provide their age, name, or contact details to use the viewer.

We may update this policy when the service or its data practices change. The current version and its last-updated date will be published on this page. Our Terms of Use explain the conditions for using the viewer.
